Kala Raksha promotes the concept of Artisan Design and this project gave me the opportunity to collaborate with artisans and come up with ideas together instead of giving them my own designs.
As part of the Project Brief two other classmates and me were to work with graduates from Kala Raksha Vidhyalay to create products for Kala Raksha in lieu of payment of fees by the artisans to the Vidhyalay. We each worked with individual artisans in weaving and collaboratively with two artisans in Bhandini.
I worked with the artisan Ramjibhai to create a Colour Blanket (or a swatch bank with various combinations of colours and textures in natural dyed yarn) that could be taken forward to create products (primarily embroidered products) .
